Marriage License

Marriage applications are taken between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm, Monday - Friday at the Probate Court. Probate Court is on the 5th floor of the County Offices/Municipal Court Building, 50 East Columbia Street, Springfield, Ohio.

  • Marrying in Ohio and live in Ohio? - Apply in the county of either applicant's residence.
  • Marrying in Ohio and both applicants live out of State? - Apply in county in which you will be married.
  • Living In Ohio but marrying out of State? - Apply in the county of the State in which you will be married.

Cost

The cost for a Marriage License is $45. Only cash is accepted.

Requirements

Each person applying must provide the following information to the Deputy Clerk.

If you are under 18 please refer to the Marriage License Application for a Minor.

Required Information Examples
Proof of Name Driver's License, ID, Passport (deputy clerk must see this information)
Proof of Address Driver's License or ID if the address is not correct - a piece of mail, personal check, rent receipt may be used (deputy clerk must see this information)
Date of Birth Driver's License or ID, Birth Certificate (deputy clerk must see this information)
Social Security Number Social Security Cards, Statement from Social Security office (with name & #), Copy of W2, tax forms or Official document with the Social Security number and name listed (deputy clerk must see this information)
If previously married and divorced Certified copy of most recent divorce decree
If previously married and widowed Date of death of spouse and County and State of death
Date of Marriage and name of Officiate The date must be within 60 days of your application
